Does Fidelity Have a Gold IRA Fund?

Fidelity does not offer a dedicated Gold IRA as a standard product, but it does allow you to buy physical gold within a regular IRA under specific conditions. This is an important distinction for investors to understand.

Through a standard Fidelity IRA, you can purchase IRS-approved gold coins, specifically Gold American Eagles in 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz denominations. The minimum precious metals purchase for an IRA is $1,000, and transactions must be made by phone between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. ET.

Physical gold is stored through FideliTrade Inc., a Delaware-based depository, with quarterly storage fees of 0.125% of the total value (minimum $3.75).

Fidelity also offers an indirect route to gold exposure through its Fidelity Select Gold Portfolio mutual fund (ticker: FSAGX), which invests in gold mining and production company stocks rather than physical gold itself.

Investors who want a more traditional, dedicated gold IRA experience may find specialized companies like Goldco or Augusta Precious Metals to be clearer and more straightforward options.
