Gold reaching $10,000 an ounce is possible but understanding the time it will take to get there is difficult. As of mid-2026, gold trades in the $4,000 to $5,000 range, already a record high, driven by central bank buying, inflation worries, and geopolitical uncertainty.
Some analysts, including strategists at Goldman Sachs and Bank of America, have floated bullish long-term targets in the $5,000 to $6,000 range under aggressive scenarios, but $10,000 remains a longer term forecast even among gold bulls.
To get there, you'd likely need a combination of sustained high inflation, a major currency crisis, or a severe loss of confidence in fiat systems. It's not impossible, and even likely over a long enough horizon, but most mainstream forecasts see it as unlikely within the next several years.
And the mainstream is wrong with this foolish thinking.
Gold hitting $10,000 is nearly guaranteed, what is not is the time frame. Will it take a year, 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years to hit $10k? We don't know.
What we do know for absolute certainty is that the price of gold moves in relation to the confidence in government. As confidence in government collapses, the price of gold sky rockets.
The price action in gold in the last 12 months from mid-2026 has been nothing but extraordinary. The government debt is not only skyrocketing, it is compounding.
The same goes for the United States and Israel government's insatiable appetite for war. And since the United States government is dumb enough to foot the entire bill for Israel, it's debt will go to the moon.
This is will crush the United States government.
This is late stage empire stuff.
As the United States government ramps ups its wars across the world, it will have to steal more and more money from its citizens.
All this furthers the collapse in confidence in government. Through out recorded history, when confidence in government, and this goes for any and all governments, collapses, the people hoard gold.
The government has basically guaranteed $10,000/oz. gold.
At Gold Investing Research we wish this was not the case, because society is not a great place to be at $10,000/oz gold, but the numbers are only headed one way.
There is no turning back.
